Not sure if this is occurring university-wide, but wanted to get the message out to everyone.

A few of you have received phone calls asking about your printer names and model numbers.  Please be aware that this is a SCAM.  It’s been going on for years; UTSA is just the latest target.  The SCAMMERS somehow use that information and try to charge the office for supplies, like a C.O.D. delivery.  Simply say “not interested” and hang up on them – no need to be polite.

Thank you.

FYI

I just received a call from a (individual) man who played himself to be working for someone asking about our printers downtown names printer models and etc.…

He did not identify himself fully and insisted to continually ask about our printers along the lines of:

Whom am I speaking with…. My boss is right here and he is asking me to ask you to get the information needed for inventory….

I need names of printer, models and etc.…  but he would not tell me his company, his name or his bosses name and kept stating his boss is asking and it was needed for inventory….

He got upset because I kept asking who he was working for and if he has spoken with main campus but he would not reply and hung up and stated he was going to send an email….
