Subject: please share - new undergraduate certificate in Public Policy and Data Analysis

Sylvia and Heather,

Below is an announcement about the new certificate. I would appreciate it if you could share that along with the flyers about our minors and major with advisors. We'd be most grateful if they could continue to encourage students to consider a double major in Public Administration and Policy or one of the minors in Nonprofit Management, Civic Engagement or Public, or Public Administration and Policy.

I'd be glad to meet with any advisors or students who want information on the new certificate or any of our programs.

Gina

New Undergraduate Certificate in Public Policy and Data Analysis

Are you interested in shaping public policies that impact our daily lives? Do you enjoy working with numbers or making compelling visuals?

The College for Health Community and policy is launching a new undergraduate certificate program in Public Policy and Data Analysis. Demand for data analysis skills is growing and this certificate offers you a way to show employers that you have obtained these skills.

This certificate program prepares students to address policy challenges and to lead in data-driven decision-making. Sound public policy requires an understanding of the root causes of problems and the drivers of meaningful change. Students will learn to effectively communicate and influence decision-making using evidence-based policy proposals.

What is a certificate program? For students currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, certificates serve as a way for students to develop specific skills and distinguish themselves from other job applicants. Students can often earn a minor or a certificate without spending more time or money at UTSA by planning which electives to take.

This certificate program is open to all majors at UTSA.

Interested students should contact gina.amatangelo@utsa.edu to add your name to the list of students pursuing the certificate or to ask questions.
