Hi all,
The College of Architecture (CoA) is currently reviewing all fall 2014 admissions requests and are updating student records on an ongoing basis. Student inquiries have been
received by a number of our Advising colleagues regarding the requirements for Pre-Architecture (Pre-ARC), Pre-Interior Design (Pre-IDE) and Pre-Construction Science Management (Pre-CSM). The following information will help in guiding these students into
their first semester at UTSA.
o
CoA’s program admissions/ enrollment management process is extensive and as such
only the College of Architecture and or CoA Departments are allowed to process Change of Majors into CoA programs.
o
Students who have been approved may be listed under numerous codes, including BS-UPA-UC, BS-ARC-UC, BS-PRA for Pre-Architecture, BS-INT-UC for Pre-Interior Design
and BS-PRC for Pre-Construction Science Management. On many occasions you will also see Pre-Interior Design and Pre-Construction Science Management listed as Pre-Architecture with a Field of Study in INT or CSM.
o
As part of the Advising restructure students admitted to CoA remain under the current Advisors jurisdiction through Census date. In an effort to assist during this
transitional time I have attached the semester flow charts for the CoA programs, which are also saved on the IDrive under
Academic Advising/COA/Degree Plans. The IDE flow chart will be updated to reflect the correct number for the AIS course.
Additional helpful notes:
o
ARC 1113, 1213 and 1313 are fall only courses and as such are mandatory for the students
1st semester. These courses will require Departmental overrides. Please contact Roxanne Cuevas at x3011 to request that these overrides be set for your student.
o
The ARC and IDE students are required to take the courses listed for their Foundation Year Gateway (1st year). They will be reviewed by the corresponding
Department upon completion of their 1st year (in May 2015) and will be competing against their peers based on GPA and completion of the Foundation Year requirements. Only students who have successfully completed their Foundation Year ARC courses
will be considered for continuation of the programs.
o
The CSM students are required to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours before submitting a request to the CSM Department for review and consideration for admission
to the CSM program.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks. –Jenn
