Hi Everyone,

Some of us that volunteered for UTSA Day a few weeks back met a representative of UTSA Student Connect.  He explained the services they provide to students.  Those of us who met him wanted to share the information to everyone in our advising community, so we asked if he could send a follow-up email to share with you all.  His supervisor, James Lee, sent this to me a couple of weeks back.  (Sorry for taking so long to get it to you.)

Thanks!

Subject: UTSA StudentConnect

Good morning,

My name is James Lee, I am responsible for the StudentConnect project at UTSA.  I believe one of my staff reached out to you during UTSA Day regarding our services.  In brief, we are a new technical service available to students, provided by OIT.  Our focus is student support and student success. In that, we are able to facilitate repairs on their personally owned computers / tablets and other technology as these tools are necessary for every aspect of their college career.  We can also install Microsoft Office 2016 for them at no charge.  These services are funded through the automated services fee that they pay every semester, so our tag line has been “you are already paying for it, make sure to use it”.

I have attached a document that goes into a bit more detail on what we do, and how.  If you would be willing to pass it along, I believe that your staff could help promote this new service and bring great value to our students here at UTSA.  We are encouraging students to reach out to us via social media.  Our experience has proven difficulties in making contact via more traditional methods, so we have intentionally excluded e-mail and phone support in lieu of a strong social media community combined with 3 walk-up locations.

Please feel free to follow up with any questions,

Thanks for your time.

James
