Subject: Giant Voice Mass Notification System - Test Tomorrow, Feb 14, 3 - 5 pm

Floor Captains,

Tomorrow afternoon (February 14) from 3 – 5 pm, the UTSA Office of Emergency Management will conduct the spring semester test of the Giant Voice Mass Notification System across the Main Campus.  Both indoor and outdoor systems will announce the following message:  “Attention, attention, this is a test of the UTSA Giant Voice Emergency Notification System. This is only a test. [repeat]”  The semester test is necessary to ensure full functionality of indoor/outdoor warning systems, and to acclimate our community to this type of alerting capability.  See attached map of GV capable buildings across the Main Campus (highlighted in green).

During the indoor test, please note the clarity of message, volume, and quickly walk the halls in your respective areas to determine everything sounds okay, and to answer any questions building occupants may have.  We will only run the indoor test once around 3:00 pm unless a particular building experiences an issue.  If this is the case, the building experiencing an issue will undergo onsite troubleshooting and a quick retest. 

Outdoor systems will be activated simultaneously with the indoor system for the initial campus-wide test, then individual sirens will activate to fully evaluate their functionality.

Please notify your departments of tomorrow’s Giant Voice test.  Also, please send your observations (worked well, audible/not-audible, good volume, etc.) to BePrepared@utsa.edu.  The announcement is posted on the UTSA Campus Alerts webpage at www.alerts.utsa.edu.  If you have any questions, please call my office at your convenience.  Many thanks for your continued support!
