Subject: Families First Coronavirus Response Act - extended
![]()
Dear People Leaders,
Recently the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) extended the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This is a program that was offered temporarily last year due to the pandemic, but ended December 2020. The
extension began April 1, 2021, and expires on September 30, 2021. Please disseminate this information to your direct reports to ensure employees take full advantage of this program.
Under EPSL employees can be granted
up to 80 hours of paid sick leave at the employee’s regular rate of pay where the employee is unable to work because of:
·
COVID-19 related self-quarantine advised by a health care professional
·
Experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and seeking a medical diagnosis
·
Awaiting results of diagnostic testing or medical diagnosis related to COVID-19
·
Obtaining a COVID-19 immunization
·
Recovering from an injury, disability, illness, or condition related to a COVID-19 immunization
Employees meeting the criteria, beginning in April, will complete and submit an
EPSL
application online. Please don’t hesitate to contact People Excellence at
hr@utsa.edu if you have any questions or visit
HR COVID-19 FAQS for more information.
Thank you,
People Excellence
