Hello Everyone,

Some centers may need to select a new Academic Advising Council (AAC) representative if their previous member is no longer with UTSA Advising or if their current member is reaching the end of their two-year term in August. Current representatives should let their centers know if their term is expiring soon. Representatives serve two year terms. Each advising center may decide independently who their representative is going to be.

New representatives should be chosen this month and should attend the AAC’s next meeting with the current representative on Monday, July 6 from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM in BSE 1.110. At this meeting, we will be taking nominations for officer positions for the 2015-2016 academic year. Voting will take place during the meeting on Monday, August 3 (also from 10:30 AM – 1200 PM in BSE 1.110). The AAC also prefers that each center have a designated “backup” representative. Each center receives one vote on official matters, but the backup member may also attend meetings and be involved in any AAC activities. At the very least, the backup would simply fill in for the voting member during any absence.

We are also inviting those who want more information before committing to serve as a future representative or backup to attend the July meeting. We will briefly discuss what AAC does, what our expectations are of members and officers, etc. Please RSVP to me at matt.keneson@utsa.edu by Friday, June 17th @ 5:00 PM if you plan to attend, so that we can plan for the correct number of people.
