Hello All,
There have been several questions this summer about how the
Texas College Bridge and College Prep programs affect TSI statuses. Susan Sandoval from the TSI office confirmed the below information about these programs.
The College Prep program is specific to San Antonio schools that have an MOU with UTSA, while the Texas College Bridge program is statewide.
Both programs can allow a student to enroll in college-level courses without having to also provide SAT, ACT, TSI, or other qualifying scores/exemptions. Students just need to send their completion
certificate & information to the TSI office (TSI@utsa.edu).
Students that qualify must complete the college-level course(s) within their first year at UTSA for their TSI status to be updated. Otherwise, they would need to satisfy
TSI through one of the normal methods (passing TSI score, completion of the co-requisite course, etc.).
Please note that these students may be missing TSI scores in SZATXSI, but
the TSI office will place a note in SPACMNT stating if a student qualifies to enroll in college-level courses based on their math, reading, and/or writing information (see 2 examples below).
They will also post-date the student’s TSI hold and enter overrides if needed.
