HONORS COLLEGE COMMUNIQUE: May 2021

Hello from the Honors College! In partnership with Academic Advising, we are sending a monthly Honors College Communique on the Advising listserv, in which we will send short updates about:

  1. Honors opportunities open to all students
  2. A highlighted benefit of being an Honors College member
  3. A student highlight from your advising areas
  4. Contacts within Honors for more information

Honors News:

The Honors College is currently conducting group counseling sessions for new FTICs starting in Summer 2021 and Fall 2021. Honors Counselors will place an advising note in Inspire once students have completed their session.

Honors Opportunities for All Students: College-based Honors Programs

The Honors College collaborates with UTSA's academic colleges to additionally offer Honors programs. Can students be a member of both the Honors College and an Honors program based in another UTSA College (College of Business Honors program, College of Engineering Honors Program, College of Sciences Honors Program)? Yes! Our flexible curriculum allows college-based Honors programs to count for three Honors experience requirements, and it puts students on the track to graduate as an Honors College student with distinction.

Highlighted Benefit for Honors College Members: Summer Scholarships

The Honors College offers scholarships to offset summer tuition for students wanting to take 6 credits or more during the summer.

Current students can also join the Honors College!

Do you know a current UTSA student with a 3.5 GPA or above (under 45 cumulative hours) that might be interested in joining the Honors College? Benefits of joining the Honors College include small interdisciplinary courses and a tight-knit community across all UTSA colleges, Honors-specific scholarships, access funds to pursue experiential learning opportunities, and professional coaching. Students eligible to join the Honors College (3.5 higher GPA and less than 45 cumulative hours) will be notified in May once grades are posted.
