Good afternoon, Advising Community.

As you meet with your orientation students this summer, it’s inevitable that a handful will be interested in changing their major in your appointment. Depending on the field of study, this can be a more complicated request than expected. We at the Downtown Advising Center wanted to provide a friendly reminder/refresher regarding the policies for changing a major in the College of Architecture in Construction Planning.

Architecture/Interior Design:

ˇ        Advisors are not permitted to change a student’s major to ARC or IDE.

ˇ        Admission to both majors is very competitive and seats are limited.

ˇ        All students who are interested in changing their major must contact Roxanne Cuevas and express their interest in the program. Roxanne will instruct them how to apply.

ˇ        The Department will change the student’s major if they qualify for consideration (Pre-Arc/Pre-IDE).

ˇ        Roxanne Cuevas can be contacted at (210) 458-3011 or Roxanne.cuevas@utsa.edu

Construction Science & Management:

ˇ        Advisors are not permitted to change a student’s major to CSM.

ˇ        Admission to the CSM program is very competitive and seats are limited.

ˇ        All students who are interested in changing their major must contact John McGee and express their interest in the program. John will instruct them how to apply.

ˇ        The Department will change the student’s major if they qualify for consideration (Pre-CSM).

ˇ        John McGee can be reached at (210) 458-3117 or john.mcgee@utsa.edu.

If you ever have questions about admission process or the specifics of the majors offered in the College of Architecture and Construction Planning, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 2684 (ARC/IDE) or Susie Saucedo at 2595 (CSM).
