We are partnering with the Department of Health and Kinesiology for a 6-week Diabetes and Weight Management program for faculty and staff to run July through August.
What does this program include? This program utilizes a curriculum created and proven effective by the Self-Management Resource Center formerly known as the Stanford Patient Education Research Center in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. Classes
are highly participative, where mutual support and success builds participant's confidence in the ability to manage their diabetes and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Each participant in the workshop will receive a copy of the companion book, Living
a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions (4th Edition) and companion relaxation CD.
When and where are the classes being held? Each session is 2.5 hours long and takes place 1 time per week for 6 consecutive weeks. The process in which the sessions are taught is what makes the program effective. The same class will be held at main campus and
the downtown campus.
How can I sign up? Please go to: https://mytraining.utsa.edu/classroom/
and search for Diabetes Self-Management Program (PD 0900) and sign up. After the first class you will be automatically enrolled for the remaining classes. Please make sure you are signing up for the Main Campus or Downtown Campus class.
We need a minimum of 10 people committed for the duration of the 6 week class to continue. If we do not reach the 10 person minimum, we will cancel the course.
Check out the flyers attached for the dates, times, and locations for main campus and downtown campus.
