The NACADA Region 7 Awards and Scholarship Program is accepting applications for their 2019 Region Excellence in Advising awards.  These awards recognize individuals who demonstrate qualities and practices that make significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. 

We are looking to nominate qualified individuals from UTSA Academic Advising and assist with the awards application process.  If there is an individual who you think would be a qualified candidate that meets the eligibility and criteria for any of the awards categories listed below, please complete the UTSA Academic Advising Online Form so we can start the application process for that individual.

NACADA Region 7 Awards & Eligibility

4 Excellence in Advising – Primary Role

o Recognizes individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students.  The individual must have at least 3 years of experience in direct delivery of advising to students.

4 Excellence in Advising – New Advisor

o Recognizes individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as an advisor for a period of three (3) or fewer years.

4 Excellence in Advising – Advising Administrator

o Recognizes individuals who may provide direct academic advising services to students but whose primary responsibility is an administrator or director of an academic advising program for a minimum of 3 years in that role.

Note: All applicants must have worked in the advising profession for a minimum of one year.

Awards Criteria

Please make sure the individual(s) you nominate can provide documented evidence of the following areas: 

4 Interpersonal/human relations skills

4 Professional practices

4 Documented success

4 Documented advisor development

For additional details about the areas listed above, please review the attached document.  Please note that the individual you submit the form for will be notified and consulted prior to the award application being submitted for the Region 7 award.  We will only submit applications for individuals who meet the awards eligibility and we can collect documented evidence of the awards criteria.
