Subject: Workshop on UTSA's Diverse Military Student Community

Colleagues,

Mary McNaughton-Cassill, Dianne Hengst and myself will be presenting a workshop on Friday, November 14th from 10:00 to 11:00am on the uniqueness of UTSA’s student military community (veterans, active duty and dependents).

We are proud to be able to unveil a new Veteran Cultural Competence online training module at this workshop during Veterans Day/Week activities here at UTSA.

We hope you can join us to learn more about exactly who makes up this population at UTSA in each of our colleges, what support is available, understanding the differences between vets and the academe, info about the transition from military to academic life, strategies to communicate effectively, etc.

This is geared primarily for faculty, but we would like to definitely invite staff that interact quite a bit with student veterans as well or those who are interested in this unique population.

Please see attached flyer for more details and a link to the faculty center site. Thanks for helping to get the word out on this.
