It’s supposed to start with Fall 2016. Currently, the faculty should be gathering data and writing justifications if they want to keep certain scores higher than a 3.

Does anyone know when the new legislation is going into effect?

Subject: [Advising] AP Score Changes from Catalog to Catalog
Dear all,
I learned something new today that affects a student’s graduation; if I didn’t know it, I suspect some of you might also not know it. Also, since the new legislation knocking most of the scores to 3 will probably affect quite a few tests,
this is good to know.
One of my students got a high enough score on the AP test for Italian to qualify for ITL 1014, 1024, 2013, and 2023. He was admitted in 2012, but AP Italian was not listed in the catalog as being accepted until 2014. I figured it could
be applied after the fact, and got an encouraging email from someone in Admissions to the purpose.
The paragraph above the scores states that the scores are valid “beginning August 1” of that year. It doesn’t specify what that means, if that’s the date of testing, matriculation, or the score report. I was able to find out that
it’s based on when they took the test. Testing Services told me that they’re not super strict on what day and month the test is taken, since they’re usually done in May. But if they’re taken that same year, then they can use them.
That’s about as clear as I can make it, but it’s more than I understood when I started the day. I hope that helps clear up some situations in advance.
Note: Students, please include your major and ID# (either one) in all correspondence.
