Honors College Communique on the Advising listserv, in which we will send short updates about:
Honors opportunities for all students
The Honors College offers special programs and advising toward national awards to
all students. Each month, we host a series of workshops open to all students. Please pass the word to your students who might be interested!

for information on the Archer Fellowship.
Current students can also join the Honors College!
Do you know a current UTSA student with a 3.5 GPA or above (under 45 cumulative hours) that might be interested in joining the Honors College? Have them reach out to
honorsadmissions@utsa. Benefits of joining the
Honors College include small interdisciplinary courses and a tight-knit community of students across all UTSA colleges, Honors-specific scholarships, access to funds to pursue experiential learning opportunities, and professional coaching.
Student
Highlight: Meet Forough Askarirad, Psychology (Class of 2022)
Forough Askarirad is a
Terry Scholar majoring in Psychology. Forough is a student leader on the UTSA campus and founded an annual event, Mental Health Day at UTSA. Aspiring to pursue a law degree and work as an immigration attorney, Forough
works in the community as an intern for Congressman Lloyd Doggett, has served as an ESL instructor through a partnership between the Honors College and Woodland Baptist Church, and has volunteered at the San Antonio Center for Refugee Services. This past year,
Forough won a
Gilman Scholarship worth $5000 to study abroad in Italy on the UTSA Urbino program. These experiences outside of the classroom and across communities from San Antonio to Urbino count toward Forough’s Honors curricular
requirements.
Additional opportunities for all students:
UTSA Citymester
The UTSA
Citymester program is housed in the Honors College, and is open to all students. The program is a full semester or summer term of coursework that is embedded in our city: professional development with an internship placement, service learning with a non-profit
organization, and a seminar about civic life in San Antonio. The program will be accepting applications for the Summer through January 29. Early applications receive priority. Check out the Citymester website for more info. Questions: contact Ms. Elisa Perkins
Cuellar (elisa.perkins@utsa.edu).
If at any time you have questions or thoughts, please reach out to us. We appreciate the insight and experience that Advising brings to the Honors College student experience.
