Good afternoon,

Please note the World History AP exam is reflecting credit for IDS 2203 instead of HIS 2123 so it will be updated.  I have requested a report be run to identify all new students that have previously accepted the credit so it can be updated.

I hope all of you have a great 4th of July.

Barbara

Subject: Problem with the World History AP Exam

Joleen:

I have identified a problem with the World History AP exam.  If students earn a “3” or higher on that exam, they are offered the opportunity to accept credit for IDS 2203 (World Civilization to the 15th Century).  It’s my understanding that IDS 2203, which used to be cross-listed with HIS 2123 (World Civilization to the 15th Century) will no longer be an option in the 2014-15 catalog.  For that reason, HIS 2123 is in the core curriculum (Language, Philosophy, & Culture), but IDS 2203 is not.

We need to change the system so that students who score the 3 or better on the World History AP exam can accept credit for HIS 2123.

I am copying Barbara on this because I am presuming she might want to alert advisors to the problem.  For now, we are telling students to wait to accept credit for the World History AP exam if they wish to use that credit toward their Language, Philosophy, & Culture core or the Component Area Option.

Thanks,

Ann
