Hello everyone and good morning,

Tracy Hunt from TRC is asking a question in regards to IB Diploma. “What does it mean if student did not achieve full IB Diploma”?

IB Diploma recipients whom has earned credit and receive scores of 4 or better achieved on ALL exams ATTEMPTED for SL (standard Level) & HL (higher level) can receive course credit listed on UTSA Testing Services website.

A student can achieve full IB Diploma for taking 6 to 7 courses to meet the number of hours required to earn an IB Diploma.  However, UTSA requirements are, if students’ has not met IB Diploma it’s because the student did not receive scores of 4 or better on ALL exams ATTEMPTED.

When an IB Diploma has not been met with the appropriate cutoff scores achieved, credits are then given under the IB Certificate for individual subject areas for HL only.

I wanted to share this information across the advising community and hopefully we can all collaborate and learn together.

Thank you Tracy.

Hi Suzanne

I have a student who brought in her IB Diploma, with the subject examination scores. The scores themselves do not meet the minimums for credit per the testing services website.  However, there is one part on the testing services website, where I and other TRC advisors wanted clarification.  The last sentence “the credits listed below…if student did not achieve full IB diploma”.  Can you clarify, does this mean that if student earned full IB diploma she does in fact receive credit, regardless of the subject scores?

I have attached a scanned copy of the diploma, and have advised student to have official scores/transcript submitted to Office of Admissions.

Thank you
