Attached is a brochure regarding NCB courses. This is a great option for students that maybe deficient in an area and fall within the score ranges below.
Barbara,
Good Morning. Would it be possible to forward this email to the advisors about NCB?
Thank you & have a great holiday,
Cyndi
Good afternoon. We need your help in getting the word out about courses specifically designed for students not achieving TSI College Ready status in Reading, Writing, and Math. The Non-Course Based (NCB) Success Program is a time proven solution for
students that find themselves in a non-college ready status. The majority of the students that enroll in this course achieve college ready status in just one semester. A very unique part of the program is that in addition to classroom instruction, each student
has an individualized educational success plan and an assigned tutor for the semester.
One of the challenges in getting the word out and getting students enrolled is that a student must be registered by their academic advisor. The course design and eligibility requirements are specified within the updated UTSA Developmental Education Plan
(dtd. 18 Oct, 2013). In accordance with the plan (pg. 24), all students scoring within the following score range are eligible and required to be enrolled into the NCB Program courses:
MATHEMATICS TSI Score 340-349 NCB 0200
WRITING TSI Score 336-362 NCB 0700
READING TSI Score 336-350 NCB 0700
This is a free, non-credit bearing course for students and successful completion of the course fulfills all TSI requirements. Please note, when enrolling these students the registration shows a “1.25” credit hours listing; this is a system default to
ensure each student is tracked and the university is reimbursed funding.
I have attached a brochure for your convenience that includes more information about this exciting program designed to help students quickly achieve college ready status.
If you have any questions about the program or about enrolling a student into one of these courses please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Thank you for your assistance, we look forward to assisting these students.
