Subject: PIVOT Males of Color Mentoring Panel/Mixer

I hope you are having a relaxed spring break. This semester, First to Go and Graduate is proposing a Male Students of Color Mentoring Initiative to facilitate a culture among males of color at UTSA, conducive to being able to, and feeling comfortable with, reaching out for support. We will be collecting information on male faculty and staff of color who are willing to serve as informal mentors to our male UTSA students. Our goal is to counter the stereotype that asking for help is a sign of weakness and open a dialog over the importance of male mentorship and camaraderie.

On Thursday April 20th, from 6:30pm-8:30pm, we will host a mentoring panel and mixer as an initial meeting to convene mentors and mentees.

I was hoping you could pass along info so I can invite more men of color on staff to attend. Are there any advisors that come to mind who you think would be interested in this initiative?

Have a great day,

Tiffany Jackson, M.Ed.
