On behalf of our Interim Provost Heather Shipley, I would like to extend to you and your students an invitation to a campus-wide event. With support from Chancellor Milliken of the University of Texas System,

UTSA welcomes the

Fulbright Student Program on

Wednesday, April 10th at 11:00 AM - 12:15 in the Retama Auditorium.

I am requesting 2 actions from you and your teams:

1.       Invite your students to this event

2.      If you can spare your student employees, please send them to the Fulbright event on Wednesday.  We’ll feed them lunch!!

      1. If you will send your students, tell us how many students you will send at globalrelations@utsa.edu.  We want to order enough lunch for them.

Program:

Learn about the benefits and process of applying for a Fulbright fellowship to study abroad for 8-12 months.

Fulbright Ambassadors, who previously traveled to South Africa and Kyrgyz Republic, will present information about how to apply to Fulbright.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to learn more about the Fulbright Student Program, the educational exchange flagship program that sees thousands of students travel abroad following graduation to study in graduate programs, research, or teach English as a second language.

Fulbright staff and student ambassadors, who previously traveled to South Africa and Kyrgyz Republic, will present information about how to apply to Fulbright.

Description: Fulbrighters travel on 8-12 month programs that are fully funded by the US Department of State. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students who will have graduated by Spring 2025 are especially encouraged to attend. Graduate students who want to conduct research abroad for their dissertation can also apply. Base eligibility for the program is that you are a US citizen. There is no minimum GPA and prior foreign travel is not required.

Students applying to Fulbright are advised through UTSA's Office of Nationally Competitive Awards. Since 2019, 15 UTSA students have won awards to travel on the Fulbright programs. Students have traveled recently to Colombia, India, Mexico, St. Lucia, Sweden, Thailand, and Turkey.

Lunch: Following the presentation, pizza will be served and students will have an opportunity to talk to Fulbright staff, the ambassadors and UTSA staff from The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards and UTSA Study Abroad.
