We hope your day is going well.  It is our pleasure to announce three of our staff members have accepted the Academic Advisor III position for UTSA Academic Advising.  Their official start date for their positions will be Monday, August 9th; however, they will support Academic Advising as needed, while transitioning to their new positions.

 Meet Karl Fisher

 

Karl holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).  He has worked at UTSA since January 2015.  His experience as part of UTSA Academic Advising began as an Academic Advisor I in Interdisciplinary Education and as an Academic Advisor II in Math and Physical Sciences.  Karl was the first recipient of the George Bergquist Award in his first year as an academic advisor.  This award was created to honor the memory of Mr. Bergquist to reflect his exemplary student-focused advising approach, positivity, and teamwork. Karl is excited to begin his new role supporting the Engineering advising unit.

 Meet Laura Garcia

 

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She has worked for the University of Texas system for over 10 years. Her experience includes advising students at South San Antonio High School as part of a UT-Austin program, UTSA Enrollment Services Officer I/II in Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services, and as Academic Advisor I/II in Interdisciplinary Education since July 2014. She is excited to begin her new role as part of the Life & Health Sciences advising unit.

Meet Nen Huynh

 

Nen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She has worked for The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) since 2012 in Engineering Advising. Her experience in higher education includes community college student success programs and a pre-college advisor.  Additionally, Nen is a licensed professional counselor (L.P.C.).   She is excited to begin her new role as the newest member of the Exploratory Programs unit.
