Hi All,

As we approach 45H and 90H season, I just wanted to send out UHPOs policy on removing/post-dating these holds.

90H: We don’t adjust these holds at all. We leave these for the primary advisors, since these are about graduation audits and degree progress. However, if a student says they are pursuing a health profession at 90 hours, they should still meet with us so that we can review their competitiveness and make sure they are on-track with their pre-requisites.

45H: We will end-date or post-date these holds for students who are completing Dental Hygiene, Nursing and Respiratory Care pre-requisites at UTSA. These students will not be completing degrees at UTSA before matriculating to their health professions programs. ALL other Health Professions students should see their primary advisor for their 45H.

·         For UHPO to end-date the hold: Only students who are considered viable to DH, Nursing or RC (for those who appreciate hard numbers, GPAs above 3.0 are considered viable) will have their hold end dated. When in doubt, send a student to our office for walk-ins so we can assess their viability.

·         For UHPO to post-date the hold: Students whose GPAs fall in the 2.5-2.99 will be considered borderline competitive and, as such, will have their hold post-dated until the end of the semester. If, after grades are in, they have gotten to a viable range (i.e., above 3.0) we will permanently remove the hold.

·         When UHPO doesn’t remove the 45H: For students below 2.5, we will not remove or post-date the hold. These students can meet with us or his or her advising center about back-up options.

Please feel free to contact me with questions about our policy.

Thank you for all you do to partner with the UHPO!
