Hello, All! April 5 is almost here.
Just writing to spread the word about an upcoming online seminar being hosted through UTSA Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE).
The Title is: Leveraging Text-Based Generative AI For Professional Writing. I think this is a subject that anyone working
in any industry can benefit from knowing more about.
What is ChatGPT and Generative AI? Paraphrasing Wikipedia: The core function of a chatbot is to mimic a human conversationalist communicating via text. However, this first iteration
of ChatGPT is more versatile than that: it can write and debug computer programs, compose music, teleplays, fairy tales, and student essays; answer test questions (sometimes, depending on the test, at a level above the average human test-taker); write poetry
and song lyrics; emulate a Linux system; simulate an entire chat room; play games like tic-tac-toe. One concern among educators is that students will use ChatGPT to do their homework for them.
Ryan McPherson, a professor of practice within UTSA College of Liberal and Fine Arts, will be presenting. There will be two presentation dates: April 5 and April
11. The time for both is 1 PM central. The cost is $95.
