Bicultural-Bilingual Studies collaborates with MBAW to incorporate STEM into art programs

The College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) is working with the non-profit performing arts organization Musical Bridges Around the World (MBAW) on an educational STEM-integrated and multicultural art program called Musical Sprouts.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress Field Education Specialist selects Sarah Aguirre

Sarah Aguirre, Field Education Specialist at UTSA’s Center for the Inquiry of Transformative Literacies, has been appointed to assist in the revision of the Reading Framework for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).

Dr. Rogelio Sáenz is no stranger to health inequity. Growing up along the Texas-Mexico border, he saw Latino families ripped apart by poverty, plagued by systemic bias and racism, struggling to get the healthcare they needed—yet facing a mostly white leadership not ready for change.

 

In memoriam: Founding faculty and professor emeritus Frank Pino dies at age 76

Frank Pino Jr., professor emeritus in UTSA’s Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, passed away on Oct. 10 at age 76. Considered one of UTSA’s founding faculty members, Pino served 39 years on the faculty until his retirement in 2012.
