The rumors are true, at least one of them, about me! I am definitely retiring effective January 31. My husband Mark retired in May after 42 years of service with the USDA and after much thought and soul searching, I decided to follow him so that we can enjoy each other’s company more (we hope!), take up gardening and building fence (gardening is me, fence building I will leave to Mark!), and relocate to our new home in Brady TX. We left Brady 45 years ago as naïve, young (boy, were we young!) freshmen at Texas Tech. Since that time, our life has been somewhat like the career of a bull rider…lots of ups and towns, toss and turns, bucked off and back up for the next ride, succeeding sometimes riding to the whistle blows and earning points, and finally retiring from the rodeo complete with sore joints, bummed knees, and a feeling of wow, what a ride but we sure did enjoy it all! We have bought a 1910 historic home in Brady to remodel…yea, I know, we are crazy but have to do something in old age! Mark’s family’s ranch is in McCullogh County as well as many of his relatives. Thus, the fence building and brush control that Mark plans to spend time on. I guess my research in defining a sense of place has finally come up close and personal…this our place where we feel connected and comfortable. As my youngest son once said when he was about six and we took him to the home town cemetery to “meet” his ancestors, he declared ‘Boy, there are sure a lot of dead Moseleys buried here!”
You are all invited to stop by, visit, and set a spell with us. We have the room and the time! And we will leave the light on for you! I wish the best to all of you and have enjoyed my time here at UTSA and in San Antonio!
