professor speaks at conference in China |
Dr. Rosalind Horowitz, a professor in the Departments of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching and Educational Psychology, was invited to speak at the World Congress of Comparative Education Societies on “Characterizing Adolescents, Youth Oral Cultures, and
Literacies: A Global Perspective” on August 23, 2016 in Beijing, China. She, along with Mingxia Zhi, a doctoral student in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies, presented “Reconceptualizing Academic L2 Writing: Cultural Conversational Contributions
within Written Language in International Assessments” during the conference. Horowitz was welcomed to China, by Dr. Yingjie Wang, President of the XVI World Congress of Comparative Education Societies and Senior Professor of Beijing Normal University; and
Dr. Qi Dong, President of Beijing Normal University.

and effective care (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2013). This is especially true for athlete populations. Athletic culture and a self-help mentality lead athletes to seek treatment less often and reject treatments at higher rates than non-athletes (Watson,
2005).
