Dear COEHD faculty and staff:
It gives me great pleasure to announce Dr. Langston Clark’s appointment as COEHD’s inaugural leadership fellow. Since 2015, Dr. Clark has been one of COEHD’s most productive and community active faculty members. Throughout his career, Dr. Clark has been a tireless advocate for more inclusive and culturally responsive educational policy and practice in schools – a line of inquiry that aligns squarely with UTSA’s core mission to serve as an engine for social mobility and economic prosperity. This leadership position is a natural fit for Dr. Clark’s expertise and interests. In this role, Dr. Clark will focus largely on generating interest in teaching among underrepresented populations (e.g., males), exploring ways perceptions/attitudes towards teaching as a profession might be reshaped through critical interventions and experiences in K-12 schools, community colleges, and other settings. His strong connections with influential constituents, key community organizations, and public schools including the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Black Leadership Advisory Council, and Dreamweek will be a real asset to his work. I think you would agree Dr. Clark has the ideal set of skills and experiences to galvanize COEHD’s recruitment efforts and advance our academic programming. I’m excited about what Dr. Clark will bring to the college and look forward to his contributions. Please congratulate, Dr. Clark, and join me in welcoming him to the COEHD leadership team.
