COEHD alumnus John Behnke receives Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program grant

John Behnke, College of Education and Human Development alumnus ‘03 and teacher in Northside Independent School District, has been offered a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program grant. Behnke is one of approximately 76 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program in 2019-2020.

Westside residents grow in faith, fitness with UTSA’s Building a Healthy Temple

UTSA has partnered with local faith communities to offer Building a Healthy Temple, a program that aims at promoting spiritual and physical health among families, preventing and managing chronic disease, and building a culture of health through healthy eating and active living.

​Cancer Prevention Grant Helps Expand UTSA Program Building a Healthy Temple

The UTSA program, Building a Healthy Temple, has dedicated itself to providing health and wellness promotion for underserved communities through over 40 churches. Now that dedication has paid off with the approval of a new grant provided to UTSA in order to reduce the risk of cancer, which is the leading cause of death for Hispanics in the United States. The grant was awarded to Professor Meizi He by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, allowing her to expand her nearly $2 million project to the Westside and Rio Grande Valley.
