Doran receives Dissertation of the Year award

Dr. Erin Doran, COEHD student development specialist and graduate of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, received the 2016 Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC) Dissertation of the Year award at the CSCC annual conference.

Turning tragedy into triumph

With only a year to go until graduating with her degree in education at the University of North Texas, Sidah Garner’s life revolved around studying, classes and campus life. Like any college student, her thoughts were focused on graduation and the future. While driving, just 30 minutes from campus, the clash of metal on metal would usher in a tragic change to her education, her life, and her future.

Horowitz elected to AERA SIG Executive Board 
ROSALIND HOROWITZ  |  INTERDISCIPLINARY LEARNING AND TEACHINGAmerican Educational Research Association
Dr. Rosalind Horowitz, professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, has been elected by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Membership to serve on the Executive Board as Treasurer-Secretary for the Special Interest Group (SIG) Research in Reading and Literacy.  This appointment is for a three-year term from 2016-2019.  It follows her completion as Chair of the SIG, a three-year term from 2013-2016.
