Northside Independent School District (NISD) recently named Lorena Herrera as the 2013-2014 First Year Educator of the Year during their annual district-wide awards ceremony in March. Herrera, a graduate of the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD)
at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), was one of three teachers district-wide selected to receive an award in the First Year Teacher category.

Dr. María Arreguín-Anderson, assistant professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, was named the President-Elect for the Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE). Arreguín-Anderson will be officially installed as President-Elect
this June and will assume presidency in June of 2015.
