Dear Colleague,
The William T. Grant Foundation supports high-quality research that has the potential to advance theory, build empirical evidence, and improve policy and practice. The Foundation strives to support
a diverse group of researchers in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, and seniority. We especially encourage high-quality research projects led by African American, Latino, Native American, and Asian American researchers. I am reaching out to you to ask that
you share this information with members of your committee and your valued colleagues.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
The Foundation is currently focused on funding research that increases our understanding of:
• programs, policies, and practices that reduce inequality in youth outcomes, and
• strategies to improve the use of research evidence in ways that benefit youth.
OUR PROGRAMS
The Foundation has two primary funding opportunities for researchers:
William T. Grant Scholars Program is a career development grant tailored to researchers in the social, behavioral, and health sciences who received a doctoral or medical degree within seven years
of application. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand junior researchers’ expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas.
The online application will open on April 24, 2017 at 3:00 PM EST. All applications must be received by July 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM EST.
Research Grants target researchers at all career stages for high-quality empirical projects that fit either of our current focus areas. Research grants are awarded three times each year: winter,
spring, and summer. Research grants typically range between $100,000 and $1,000,000 and cover two to four years of support, depending upon the focus area.
Please contact me with any questions. Thank you.
