Sent on behalf of Karla Broadus, Director of African American Studies:
African American Studies is inviting you to join us meeting with Dr. Kevin Cokley. Dr. Cokley’s research and scholarship challenges the notion that African
American students are anti-intellectual, and critically reexamines the impact of racial and ethnic identity and gender on academic achievement. His work also evaluates the impact of the impostor phenomenon in academic and mental health outcomes, especially
among ethnic minority students and women. Dr. Cokley is also a graduate member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Dr. Kevin Cokley is our visiting research scholar with UTSA African American Studies program. He will present “Psychological Impact of Racism: How Students
of Color Maintain Wellness” at 6:00pm, Wednesday 10/5/2015 at DB 1.124, Downtown campus and lecture “The Myth of Anti-Intellectualism” at Main campus on 10/06/2016.
Please join us with your friends. This event is free and open to all UTSA students. See attached flyer for further information.
