Tech * Connect * Ignite!
Transforming education requires us to rethink how we teach and learn. The ISTE Standards act as a roadmap for bold, innovative educators and education leaders to re-engineer their schools and classrooms for digital age learning no matter where they fall on
the journey to meaningful, effective ed tech integration. (https://www.iste.org/standards)
"Technology has the ability to help personalize the educational experience and teachers’ instruction of classroom material—matching students’ interests and goals with their abilities. A growing effort is underfoot to ensure that technology is used in such a
way that every Texas student’s educational needs are being more fully met." -Texas Computer Educators Association January 7, 2019

Learner Standard:
Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning.
Educators:
1a Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness.

Flipgrid is an active, social learning platform that engages learners through video-based discussion. The app extends the web-based environment and creates new possibilities for reflection, discussion, demonstration and collaboration.
You can go to Flipgrid or you can download the app and go ahead and sign up for an account. Make sure you click the free version to get started with Flipgrid. It takes about 30 seconds to set up your account. You can go through the steps right on the app or
online on how you need to create a grid. Flipgrid generates a code and you are ready to go!

Instead of writing an essay or maybe doing a turn-talk, students can record their thoughts and their conversations on a particular topic and push that out to the whole class using Flipgrid.

working in the downtown area, and we are hoping to capture that market."

When rapper Mexican Stepgrandfather (Mexstep), also known as Marco Cervantes, told us he was releasing his first
solo album in 9 years, we were more than a little stoked to get the news. The director of Mexican-American studies at UTSA and one third of the hip-hop group Third Root has been actively crushing mics and rocking stages in the region for over a decade, securing

When she was growing up, Summer Wilmoth wanted to cure cancer. In her mind, that meant going to medical school.
After losing her mother to cancer as an 8-year-old, “I just always had it in my head, I'm going to be a doctor,” Wilmoth said. “I was always like, ‘I’m going to find a cure for cancer and save everyone.’” But “research sucked me in” as an undergraduate student
at the University of Texas at San Antonio, she said, and now Wilmoth wants to prevent people from getting sick in the first place.
