COEHD will host guest speaker Dr. John Jeka, the department chair for Kinesiology and director of the Control of Balance and Locomotion Lab at the University of Delaware. Dr. Jeka’s lecture will discuss
his research about how the nervous system uses sensory information (e.g. vision, inner ear) to approximate body dynamics and guide motor processes for upright balance control. His research findings have applications for populations with neurological conditions
and injuries that lead to balance problems, including older adults, those with Parkinson’s disease, and athletes who have experienced concussion.
