Good morning,
This week on Wednesday, November 11, we honor the men and women who served in the country’s military. UTSA is joining in the celebrations and all are invited to attend any and all of the events (see attachment for details).
Did you know …
- Veteran’s Day originally was celebrated as Armistice Day (end of World War I).
- In 1938, Armistice Day became a federal holiday.
- In 1954, Armistice Day became Veterans Day in recognition of all veterans, not solely those who served during World War I.
- According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, of a total of 22 million veterans nationally, 1.68 million veterans resided in Texas in 2014.
Wishing you a wonderful day,
