DEVELOPING ASSESSMENTS AND RUBRICS

Assessments and rubrics are tools used to determine levels of students’ mastery of course content. This workshop will guide participants through the process of developing rubrics and evaluation tools that will help to assess student learning. By the end of this workshop students will have learned the steps in identifying the criteria regarding content to be assessed, describing levels of student mastery, and using these elements to develop purposeful assessments and rubrics. This workshop is open to all graduate students and teaching assistants eager to learn more about the development of assessments and rubrics in university-level classrooms.

Timothy T. Yuen, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching. His research investigates how learning technologies that facilitate learning and engagement in computer science and engineering, increasing minority participation in STEM, and transformative teaching practices in undergraduate engineering education.
