Giving Back to Make a Difference

Meet the Haug family. Tanya Haug ’97 is a firm believer in giving back. The life-long San Antonio resident notes that by donating to the university—whether by six and seven figure amounts or in relatively smaller amounts like she has done—current and potential future students will also draw benefits.



Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas awards scholarships to six UTSA students

The San Antonio Chapter of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) recently hosted its 10th annual scholarship breakfast and honored scholarship award recipients including five young women from UTSA. This year, the HWNT awarded $22,500 in scholarships to 13 students who completed three Latinas in Progress program sessions, which offer personal and professional development.



KHN professor receives grant from BCBS of Texas

Dr. Meizi He, professor in the College of Education and Human Development’s Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Nutrition, was awarded a $126,780 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas: Healthy Kids, Healthy Families initiative. The three-year initiative aims to provide funding for non-profit organizations in Texas.



An Independence education and Revolutionary health

As many begin preparing for vacations, fireworks, barbeques, and the celebration of Independence Day, it seemed appropriate to highlight how education and health played important roles in our nation’s bid for independence.

The National Center for Education Research competition is:

The Request for Applications for each competition is available here

Please see the Federal Register notice for more information.

(Inside Higher Ed)  -  The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is releasing draft policy guidance on conditional admissions policies clarifying that international students must meet all admissions standards for a given program – including English language proficiency requirements – in order for the university to issue an I-20, the legal document that students need to apply for visas.
