hosts workshops on computer science education |
The EDGE-Computer Science Education Group (EDGE-CSEd) hosted a series of teacher professional development workshops on computer science education this week. On Nov. 12, eleven high school and middle school teachers from North East ISD attended an all-day workshop
on computer science teaching practices and object-oriented programming held at the EDGE Center. This workshop also included visits to the Department of Computer Science, where teachers gained insight on how they can prepare their students to transition to
studying computer science at the university level. Two two-hour programming bootcamps on Python were also offered for pre-service teachers in UTeachSA and the COEHD on Nov. 13 and Nov. 14. These workshops were intensive introductions to basic programming for
aspiring math and science teachers. Led by Dr. Timothy Yuen from the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, EDGE-CSEd is
a cross-campus collaborative of faculty and students from the COEHD and the College of Science aimed at creating more access to, improving student success and teaching, and investigating best practices in computer science. These three workshops were the first
service activities for EDGE-CSEd. For more information, contact Yuen at timothy.yuen@utsa.edu.

Did you know...you have the ability to only
screenshot the part of the screen you want?
If you only need to screenshot part of the screen, there's a simple way to do it for both Windows and Macs:
• For Mac: "Command," plus "Shift," plus "4" brings up the tool. Then, you just drag the area you want.
• For Windows: Just go to "Start" and then "Snipping Tool."
