We’re incredibly excited for this summer’s virtual academy which is co-sponsored by Humanities
Texas and UTSA’s COEHD and Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department, with the invaluable support of our community partners like the Mexican American Civil Rights Institute (MACRI) and the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA).
Created by UTSA MAS faculty in 2014 as part of the statewide movement to bring MAS into Texas public schools, the MAS Teachers' Academy is a people-powered,
teacher-scholar-community led effort that provides educators with foundational content and curricular support to teach MAS in K-12 public schools. The academy also introduces teachers to Chicana/x/o Studies anti-oppression pedagogies and teaching/learning
approaches that speak to MAS' commitment to student empowerment, community self-determination, and social transformation.
The academy is open to all K-12 educators.
Participants will receive Continuing Education/Professional Development credits.
