Good afternoon colegas,

I'm cordially inviting you to attend our upcoming MAS Decolonial Epistemologies Symposium which will take place on Friday, June 29th, 2018, 6- 9 p.m. at the UTSA downtown campus.

We're excited that Dr. Dolores Calderon Estrada from Western Washington University will be delivering the keynote address. Her articles on uncovering settler grammars in the curriculum and her work as a Chicana feminist and indigenous scholar will undoubtedly contribute to greater understanding on the importance of centering indigenous and Chicana/x/o epistemologies in school curricula.

Dr. Calderon will be joined by an outstanding teacher panel: Andres Lopez who teaches Mexican American literature at Stevens High School; longtime activist, Anita Exilda Cisneros who teaches 3rd and 4th grade bilingual education at Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School (Edgewood ISD); and BBL graduate student, Lucero Saldaña, English Language Coordinator and MAS instructor at KIPP Camino Academy. 

Reception starts at 6:00 p.m. with light appetizers and will end at 8:30 p.m. with a book signing by Dr. Calderon (co-author of Reclaiming the multicultural roots of U.S. curriculum: Communities of color and official knowledge in education).
