Call for Special Issue Proposals
February 26 - March 15, 2024
Thank you for your submission to last year's UTeach conference. We want to inform you about the opportunity to have your work considered for inclusion in the special issue of the New Directions in Teaching and Learning Journal , themed "Innovation in STEM Teacher Preparation through UTeach." We invite submissions of empirical research, conceptual studies, development studies, and other scholarly manuscripts. While submissions on any topic related to innovations in STEM teacher preparation are welcome, we particularly encourage proposals on the following topics:
· Policy impact on STEM Teacher Preparation
· Culturally Relevant/Responsive Pedagogy
· Multicultural Issues in STEM Teacher Preparation
· STEM Teaching Shortage
· Recruitment/Retention of STEM Teachers
· First Generation STEM Pre-service Teachers
· STEM Teaching and Curriculum
· Creating Community/Belongingness amongst Pre-service STEM Teachers
· UTeach Alumni
· Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in STEM Teacher Preparation Programs
Proposals should include the following:
· Title
· Names and affiliations of authors and contributors
· Brief (500 word) discussion of the theme
· Abstract (200-300 word)
Proposal submissions should be sent to special issue guest editors, Drs. Uchenna Emenaha Miles and Grant Clayton.
All submissions will undergo a peer review process selection and be published in online
New Directions in Teaching and Learning Journal. The journal’s editorial board will handle the peer review process in consultation with the guest editors.
