Dear Graduating Class of 2020,

We are so pleased to congratulate you all on your tremendous accomplishment. This year, the College of Education and Human Development is proud to honor the class of 2020 which has over 150 undergraduates, 125 masters students, and 18 doctoral students. We are proud of each and every one of you and sorry we can’t celebrate in person. We realize that these final weeks of your education didn’t end as expected, but we commend you all for your grit and tenacity to finish the year strong. To the family members, friends and student support systems, thank you. Your continued support, your own flexibility and understanding, and your belief in us, entrusting us with your own precious children, parents, spouses, relatives- whatever relationship you have to these graduates - underscores the power of partnerships and collective action. Graduates, we know that you are ready to face the world armed with the knowledge and know-how to face any challenge that comes your way.

As we have seen, educators have been a source of strength and stability to children in our community during these uncertain times. As education professionals, academics and researchers, we all have a responsibility to be a part of the solution as we move forward to meet the educational needs of children in our communities. And it begins with you.

As you move on, we hope that you can look back on these times and remember that you persevered through unforeseeable challenges, uncertainty, and changes during an unprecedented time in human history. And you prevailed.

On behalf of myself and the whole college, congratulations! We are so proud of you.

Sincerely,
Margo DelliCarpini, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Strategic Educational Partnerships and
Dean of the College of Education and Human Development
President's Distinguished Professor
