Literacy Day - 50th Anniversary: Reading the Past, Writing the Future |

 On
September 8, 2016, UNESCO will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of International Literacy Day with the theme “Reading the Past, Writing the Future”. This means across the world, a half a century has been devoted to recognizing literacy in a celebratory manner.
The goal on September 8 is to advocate for the virtues and continued growth of literacy. On September 8 and 9 UNESCO will hold a conference in Paris to honor these efforts and disseminate prizes for achievements in Literacy. |

Ricardo Romo today announced his intention to retire as president of The University of Texas at San Antonio next August, following the conclusion of the Spring 2017 academic semester. Romo is the fifth and longest serving president in the university’s 47-year
history and its first Hispanic president. A native of San Antonio, he joined UTSA in 1999 after holding administrative and academic positions at The University of Texas at Austin. |
