Dear UTSA faculty and Staff,
The Global LEAD Conference will finally be here next Thursday, March 26th at the HEB UC ballroom from 9-530pm. Dr.
Machado-Casas and the entire Global LEAD staff are cordially inviting you and your classes to join us for this important discussion and summit. Our morning welcome includes, our President Dr. Ricardo Romo, Our Mayor Ivy Taylor, and our Honorary Chairs for
the event are: Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark , Vicky Carr, and Secretary Julián Castro.
Our morning keynote panel includes ministers of education from Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Rica who will discuss local issues
around education in Latin America and will be moderated by Arantxa Loizaga from the Syndicated Univision station.
The following panel discussions will be presented during the event:
11:05 am The US Business Development Center as a model of collaboration between the U.S. and Latin America
12:05 pm Academic collaborations in international settings: Equity and quality in education through STEM Education
2:00 pm Mesoamerican Mathematical Model, The structure of a way of thinking and living in Time
3:00 pm The Role of UTSA Mexico Center in Establishing Collaborations
4:50 pm Globalization and interinstitutional collaborations in higher education for scientific and technological development
The afternoon keynote speaker is Actor Tony Plana from the Show “Ugly Betty” who will deliver the keynote address regarding Arts
and Education .
We sincerely hope and encourage your classes to attend as this event is free and open to the public. If you would like us to provide
a sign in sheet for your students who will be in attendance, please email: Camille.norman@utsa.edu with their names and any information.
