Reminder - Essay Reader Application is Now Open!

The Gates Scholarship reader application is now open! We are seeking professionals, like you, to help us achieve our goals by serving in this important role.

As a reader, you will read and evaluate four essays, each, from 20 students, totaling 80 essays, between January 2, 2020 and February 15, 2020. Readers will be required to complete a brief online certification course, prior to receiving their first batch of essays. No travel will be required, as essays can be read wherever the reader has internet access (e.g., work, home, etc.).

Create a 'Volunteer' Profile

Once logged in, you will see a reading glasses icon on the top right-hand corner. Click on that icon to begin your application. If you save and then return to the application at a later point, you can continue filling out the application you started by clicking on your name on the top right-hand corner and selecting "Reader."

Reader Application Process:

1. Reader Application Submission  - November 7, 2019 to December 15, 2019
2. Application Review and Selection -  Selected readers will be notified on a rolling basis
3. Online Certification
4. Essay Reading - January 2, 2020 to February 15, 2020

This role is offered on a volunteer basis. No reimbursements or honoraria will be provided.
