SUCCESS FOR SUMMER:
Academic Innovation (AI) kicks off its Summer Digital Teaching Forum Series with Cultivating
Compassion and Empathy in Online Courses. Click to Register and Join online!
Thursday, June 4, 9 a.m.
Description:
Students—especially online students—face many pushes and pulls in their lives; many work full-time or multiple jobs, are family caretakers, and may be physically distant from the UTSA Campus. These factors have
been compounded as COVID-19 continues to impact families in the UTSA community as we continue to teach students remotely.
In this forum, panelists will discuss how they have incorporated strategies to promote compassion and empathy for their students’ lives while continuing to provide rigorous instruction in the online space. An open
forum for questions and answers will follow.
Presenters:
Janet Vote, Geological Science
Jodi Peterson, History
Rey Villanueva, Anthropology
