Subject: [Coehd] Congratulations, Dr. Trepal: Next Steps

Dear COEHD community:

One of the pleasures of working in COEHD is being surrounded by many, many talented and dedicated individuals. There are so many examples of individuals across our college doing truly remarkable things in research, teaching, service, academic support, and leadership. Dr. Heather Trepal is one of those exceptional individuals who have given themselves fully to building a prosperous present and future for our college since her appointment began. All would agree her leadership as Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Student Success has been vital to what we have achieved in areas such as implementing academic process improvements, elevating the student experience, compensating our GARs, and fostering a culture of respect and affirmation. While she will be missed, I am excited by her promise and ability to lead our graduate school through what may easily be considered one of the most challenging times ever in higher education. She has the right mix of skills, experience, and appreciation for people that will serve her well in this new role. Please join me in congratulating, Dr. Heather Trepal, UTSA’s incoming Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School.

In a few short days, you will receive an announcement regarding plans for filling the vacated AD appointment. I intend to move aggressively in idenitfying her successor. Similar to how other internal searches have been conducted, I will invite nominations (self or otherwise), there will be a committee, presentations will be given, etc. The aim is for an inclusive process. More to come. Have a great weekend.

Mario
