The College of Education and Human Development is sad to announce the passing of Carisa Kohutek, Educational Preparation Program Assessment Coordinator in the Office of Professional Preparation and Partnerships.

While we are saddened by this loss we are grateful for the many memories we have of her.

We only had the privilege and pleasure of working with Mrs. Carisa Kohutek for 11 months, but in that short time she has made a substantial contribution to the UTSA community and especially the clinical teachers. Carisa drew upon her former experience as a classroom teacher to build relationships and establish rapport with not only our clinical teachers, but everyone in our College of Education and Human Development. She took her responsibilities to heart investing her time, energy, compassion, creativity, and eternal optimism to personalize the process of exam and certification preparation. Every clinical teacher (and faculty member) knew her name, her face, her reassuring voice, and that she was committed and ready to do whatever it took for them to be successful. Carisa gracefully gained personal and professional respect from all who worked with her and she embodied cultural efficacy in her humanistic approach to education. In other words, when we say #UTSARoadrunnerTeachersCan; Carisa could, and did. UTSA is better and stronger because of the lasting impression that Mrs. Carisa Kohutek has left on our program and in our hearts. She will be deeply missed.
