UTS is blocking several applications begin today at 7pm as per the Texas Senate Bill 1893.

BLOCKING PROHIBITED APPLICATIONS – CHG0042873: Blocking of prohibited applications as directed by the office of the Texas government.  Change by Cyber Operations (CO) – Samuel Barrera.

  • This change is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2nd, starting at 7:00 PM lasting Saturday, July 5th, until 2:00 AM, and its scope is the blocking of prohibited applications as directed by Texas Senate Bill 1893 and Governor Greg Abbott’s executive directives. 
  • To comply with Texas Senate Bill 1893 and Governor Greg Abbott's executive directives, this change request implements technical controls to block the use of prohibited applications on UTSA devices and networks. 
  • During this maintenance work, user access to the following application services on UTSA networks and on UTSA computing assets will be prohibited and blocked: 
    • Alipay
    • ByteDance Ltd.
    • CamScanner
    • DeepSeek
    • Kaspersky
    • Lemon8
    • Moomoo
    • QQ Wallet
    • RedNote
    • SHAREit
    • Tencent Holdings Ltd.
    • Tiger Brokers
    • TikTok
    • VMate
    • WeBull
    • WeChat
    • WeChat Pay
