Currently, there have been several phishing emails sent from Dr. Margo DelliCaprini. If you receive an external email from her requesting,
your phone number or you to text her back with your information, this is a phishing email!
The Dean uses her UTSA account to conduct university business and
schedule appointments. She does not contact UTSA Faculty and Staff through another account.
We are reminding everyone to ensure data is protected from phishing attacks. Increase your cyber security awareness to keep you safe from phishing attacks that may arrive in your inbox.
Phishing
is a cyber-attack used to lure people to provide their confidential information usually by sending them to a website that they may normally use. Attackers send email messages that look like they are from a legitimate
company – such as UTSA. When you click on a link in a phishing message, it may download a virus/malware or take
you to a mock-up of the legitimate company’s or university’s website.
A
virus/malware will steal your credentials and confidential information when directing you to a website that will prompt you for your information. If you submit information to these websites, attackers can re-sell the information or use it to commit
fraud or other illegal acts. The UTSA Office of Information Security has some easy tips to protect you, your data, and our university.
